Sound of Silence Africa Initiative abbreviated as SOSAI is a legally registered not for profit and Non-Governmental Organization-NGO; Organization of Persons with Disabilities-OPD founded in 2019 and legally registered and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee (under section 18(3) of the Companies Act 2012) of the Republic of Uganda, with the registration number 80034340808286 in 2023 with the goal of helping to improve on the lives of children disabilities in Uganda.
SOSAI is committed to weaving a brighter future for children with disabilities in Uganda within the thematic areas through HEAR and is a unique and comprehensive approach developed by SOSAI born out of a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children with disabilities to address the specific needs of children with disabilities in Uganda. The acronym HEAR stands for Health, Education, Advocacy and Rehabilitation, representing the four core areas of focus of the organization where we provide a supportive ecosystem that fosters empowerment, inclusivity and equity.

SOSAI at the moment has no funders for each program but resources are mobilized locally such as fundraising, partnership, leveraging resources, contributions, sales of souvenirs and some payments for the services offered.
Through partnership with TechBuzz Hub Ntinda, we have been offered a virtual office where we can do onboarding as well as have our meetings however, we look forward to getting a better office so that we can service within our jurisdiction.

SOSAI has registered remarkable achievements since its inception that has made positive impact in the community and uplifted the lives of children with disabilities.
Through partnership with National Debate Council-NDC we organized the first ever sign language debate challenge which was done entirely in sign language between the deaf and hearing communities in May 2023 that was covered by the New Vision.
Through partnership with Read Us Africa-RUA, we organized the first ever inclusive Annual Readers Conference in September 2023 to commemorate the literacy day and also we organized the first edition of the Book Camp in March 2024.
