KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

SOSAI has registered remarkable achievements ever since its inception that has made positive impact in the community and uplifted the lives of children with disabilities.

Through the community inclusion program, we have trained over 100 members of the communities with sign language proficiency, together with small components of deaf advocacy and inclusion practices.

Through partnership with National Debate Council-NDC we have organized the first ever sign language debate challenge entire in sign language between the deaf and hearing communities in May 2023.

Through partnership with Read Us Africa-RUA, we have organized the first ever inclusive Annual Readers Conference in September 2023 to commemorate the literacy day and also we organized the first edition of the Book Camp in March 2024.

In February, SOSAI extended its services and conducted trainings to special needs teachers of deaf school in Ttanda Mityana on how to teach deaf children and achieved desirable academic excellence.

Through partnership with different stakeholders, we also launched sign language mentorship program and developed an app called Reach All App through collaborative partnership with Kakebe Technologies.

Not only that, in December 2023 we had the first ever silent dinner fundraiser where we raised close to $1,000 to support this program and carry it forward and reach remote areas including refugee camps.

SOSAI did community needs assessment and identified one young girl with albinism and supported her with sun screen lotion cream in partnership with The Hummingbirds Foundation and also we organized health needs assessment of deaf communities’ webinars via google meet. Also we have put on child with disabilities on the rehabilitation program.
